Archetype Gimlet Recipe

Archetype Gimlet - Archetype Distillery - Denver Distillery

Who says cocktails aren’t good for you? The Gimlet was created as a way to combat scurvy in the Royal Navy on long voyages. A 1928 description of the drink was: gin and a spot of lime. Over time, the Gimlet has become sweeter. The blend of slightly sweet and tart flavors is appealing, but not overwhelming, and while scurvy is not a common issue anymore, we can still enjoy this delicious citrus cocktail.

The light botanicals of our Archrival Gin pair deliciously with simple syrup and our Archetype Lime Atomizer. This light drink is perfect for staying refreshed in the warm summer months or whenever you’re in the mood for something bright and citrusy.

Try one in our Denver tasting room or make one at home by picking up a bottle at our distillery or a liquor store near you.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 ounces Archrival Gin
  • 2-4 spritzes Archetype Lime Atomizer
  • 1.5 – 2 ounces lime juice
  • .5 – 1 ounce simple syrup
  • Sliced lime for garnish
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the Archrival Gin and simple syrup. Cover and shake for 10-15 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Spritz 2-4 times with the Archetype Lime Atomizer or according to taste. Garnish with a slice of lime. Enjoy immediately.

Vodka Gimlet: A variant of the cocktail replaces gin with vodka. Substitute Archangel Vodka for the Archrival Gin.

Notes: You may also stir the ingredients in the cocktail shaker and serve in an ice-filled glass.

Cheers!
